    Location

    El Encinar is a luxury residential estate that is 11.8 kilometres from Madrid. It shares its northern boundary with La Moraleja and its origins are linked to the Torrejón de Ardoz air base. This was where the American military and their families lived for 34 years in a distinctly American atmosphere. In 1992, however, it was transferred back to Spain and the process of making it what it is today began. El Encinar features three different types of properties: flats, semi-detached houses and detached houses, most of which are inside closed estates, with security services and pleasant common areas that include gardens, swimming pools and sports facilities. The concept is very similar to that of El Soto, although the buildings are much more recent. Regarding its inhabitants, it is mostly populated by young families with children. From an administrative point of view, one part belongs to the municipal district of Alcobendas (postal code 28109) and another to the municipality of Hortaleza (postal code 28055).
